Looking after your mental health when working is extremely important. If you are struggling with your mental health it will understandably impact your job, such as making you less motivated, less focused, and less productive. Therefore, making time for you and your wellbeing should be a priority.
If you are suffering, you are not alone. There is a tonne of support available out there, from self help books, courses, your GP, and phone lines if you want to speak with somebody. Remember, things will get better, and how you are feeling now is temporary.
Part of what can make working from home difficult for many people is the lack of proper social interaction. There are less desk chats while you’re working, less banter, less corridor interactions. This doesn’t mean, however, that social contact with your colleagues needs to end!
Thankfully, living in the 21st century means that technology has our backs. With innovative technologies such as Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet, it is really quite easy to stay connected with others. Whether it’s a simple conversation on instant messaging throughout the day, ‘digital office’ meetings where you all work on Zoom to simulate the office, or regular catch ups with the team, try to make time for each other.
Likewise, if you aren’t struggling yourself but you know that one of your colleagues lives alone, make an extra effort to connect with them. They will probably be extremely thankful for it.
If you can, make a conscious effort to spend some time away from your work desk. Due to the lack of variety in life at the moment, taking every opportunity you can to mix things up a little bit can go a long way.
This tip is obviously much easier if you have a laptop. Treat yourself to the odd morning working from the sofa, or if the weather is nice, take your laptop into the garden or, if permitted, take it to the local park.
While you might not have as much flexibility if you use a Desktop PC, you can still make sure that the times you spend not working are away from your desk. Don’t fall into the trap of being glued to your desk 24/7, as this can lead to a feeling of entrapment.
Moving on nicely from our last tip, as well as spending time away from your desk, why not go that step further and commit to taking some breaks outside (weather permitting, of course)! As we’ve covered before, taking a bit of time out in nature can really do wonders for your mental health.
Not only does it give you a change of scenery, but it also gives you some time to reflect, take stock of how you’re doing, and reset for the afternoon ahead. The simple feeling of the sun on your next or the wind on your face can help you re-attune to your true self. Vitamin D is also extremely important for our physical wellbeing, too!
One huge bonus of working from home that we’re sure everybody agrees on is not having to commute to work. No longer sitting in the rush hour traffic every single day, taking 30min detours home due to road closures, or both leaving and returning home in the dark! However, it’s important we don’t allow this extra freedom to lead to something damaging.
Indeed, without having to get up, get ready and travel to work, it can be tempting to set that alarm for 10 minutes before work starts, or keep snoozing it until you really have to get up. Doing this every day can make us less productive and motivated to work, and even take a toll on our mental health. This is because your brain doesn’t get the chance to fully wake up before being thrust into work.
We believe you feel so much better if you try to get up at the time you normally would do in the office. This way, you can spend more time in the morning doing things for yourself. That could include reading, exercising, working on a personal project, or simply having breakfast with a loved one. Cherish this lack of commute by making the most of it.
This final tip isn’t necessarily only applicable to working from home, but let’s face it, it can be difficult to eat as well as we would like every day when we’re out at work. But now we all have a bit more time on our hands, why not use it to be more mindful of what we’re eating and dedicate more time to cooking fresh, healthier meals?
Cooking can be extremely rewarding, but even if you aren’t too fussed about the craft of cooking itself, being at home gives us a prime opportunity to cook and experiment with fresh ingredients. No more drawers full of pot noodles or biscuits, no more supermarket sandwiches on the go. If you aren’t used to cooking much yourself, you may be surprised at how incorporating home cooked, healthy meals into your diet can improve your mental health.
We hope that you are able to implement some of these tips into your daily working from home lifestyle, and that they can help you lead a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life. You’ve got this, and before you know it, the world as we know it today will be a distant memory. It won’t be long until we can hug, love, and laugh with our loved ones once again!

]]>Let’s quickly explain what mindfulness is, just in case you missed our previous article or you need a refresher. Many of us lead extremely busy lives - whether that be through work or looking after our families - and this means we live our lives on autopilot. Mindfulness, or, the act of ‘being mindful’ is when you take some time out of your day to consciously make yourself present.
Even if it’s just taking five minutes out of your day, being mindful allows us to give ourselves some needed TLC and helps us understand ourselves better. We can take the things we learn from our periods of mindfulness and make changes to improve our lives. Being mindful also gives us a chance to take stock and ‘reset’ before returning to our day.
You can learn more about the benefits of mindfulness here.
We’ll begin with perhaps the most well-know and most accessible exercise in mindfulness - breathing! There is a good reason why when we’re feeling anxious, panicked or stressed it as advised to focus on our breathing. Slow, deep breathing tells your brain to calm down and relax, and your brain will then pass that message on to your body which can lower blood pressure, reduce heart rate, and calm those racing thoughts.
However, we do not need to feel anxious or stressed in order to feel the benefits of mindful breathing. By taking a few moments out of our day to switch off everything external and shift our attention entirely to the rhythm and flow of our breathing, we can help put our thoughts and feelings into perspective and carry this knowledge through to our everyday lives.
Mindful breathing is simple, and it can be done absolutely anywhere. To begin, sit up straight, or if seating isn’t available, you can stand. Close your eyes, inhale, and count to three. The trick to breathing mindfully is to try and focus entirely on the sensation of your breath - how it feels as it enters your mouth and as it fills your belly. If any thoughts pop into your head, acknowledge them and let them drift away - always try to shift your focus back to your breathing.
Hold your breath for five seconds, and slowly exhale for 5 seconds. Repeat this process 5-10 times, solely focussing on the sensations of your breath moving through your body. If you can train yourself to simply acknowledge your thoughts as they pop onto your head, rather than attach an emotional response to them, you can use this skill in everyday life, even when you’re not being purposefully mindful.
If you can master this then you are well on your way to being able to meditate! Why not give it a try now?
Remember: Whenever your mind wanders, return your attention to the sensation of your breathing.
Going for a walk can be a great way to calm your mind. Walking enables you to breathe in some fresh air, immerse yourself in nature, and get a bit of exercise. Daily walking is a great habit to get into, but why not try being mindful while you are walking?
The trick to mindful walking is to begin by only focussing your attention on your movements. If your mind wanders, make a conscious effort to bring you attention back to your walking - the same way you would try to focus on breathing during meditation. Focus your awareness on each leg as your knees bend with movement; to each foot as it touches the ground. Pay attention to the way your arms move as you walk, noting any sensations present in each part of your body as you walk:
Important: If you are outdoors - especially near roads or in another space with potential hazards - it’s important to be aware of your general surroundings. Mindful walking is best practiced somewhere quiet and safe, such as a field.
After a predetermined condition is met, such as an allotted amount of time or number of steps, shift your awareness to either sight, smell, or sound. Focus on one of these only. If you choose smell, for example, focus on what the smell is, and how it makes you feel. Is it pleasant? Does it remind you of anything?
Once you have spent the same amount of time/walked the same number of steps as you did for the previous step, move on to the next sense, and then the next.
When you have individually focussed on each sense, bring everything together in the final stage of the practise. Try to make yourself aware of your body, your vision, your scent, and sounds all at the same time.
In this moment, you are simply present. Try to ignore any worries or thoughts about anything outside of this moment. There is nothing to do or worry about, you are simply enjoying everything around you; the world’s simple pleasures.
So, to recap the 5 stages of mindful walking:
And remember, steps 2-4 can be done in any order!
This one is a little different, but hear us out! Eating is like many things in life - when we do it, we often do it on autopilot. We eat at set times because it’s the social norm to do so, and oftentimes we eat on the go without using the time to be mindful. We might eat while watching television or even doing household chores. We eat when we’re not hungry, we eat when we’re bored.
So, why not try a bit of mindful eating? Granted, if you live a busy life, or have children to think about, this won’t always be possible. But even if you get to do it once a week on your lunch break, you might find that it helps.
As with all the techniques we are discussing today, mindful eating is about shifting awareness to your body, and grounding yourself in the present moment. So, before you even begin to eat, you should ask yourself: am I hungry? This step is extremely important as it’s your first act of mindfulness towards your food. We should only sit down to eat if we’re actually hungry or low on energy; not simply because we are bored, sad, or procrastinating. This is a simple process, but it is designed to train us to listen to our bodies’ needs, rather than just eating for the sake of it.
If you are hungry, then it is time to prepare your food. As we prepare our food - even if it is simply unwrapping something prepared rather than cooking from scratch - be mindful of what you are doing. How does the chopping feel? What sounds do the ingredients make as you cook them? What do they smell like? Give yourself to the moment.
Extend this sense of awareness to when you sit down to eat your food. So often we eat in a hurry, not fully tasting or appreciating the food in front of us. Savour every bite, reflect on how it tastes. Consider the texture and how the food feels as it touches your tongue and teeth. Chew slowly and rest for a few moments after each mouthful, allowing your food to digest properly. If you are eating with a knife and fork, put them down between bites to really focus on what is going on in your mouth and throat.
Be aware of your body becoming full. As soon as you feel full, stop eating. If you have leftovers, don’t throw them away! Save them for another day.
When you finish eating, take a moment to be thankful, and spend some time thinking about where your food came from. Was it fresh? Processed? How do you think the food travelled from its source to your plate? Was it healthy? Did it satisfy you? Taking this time to reflect can help us maintain or develop a healthy diet, and question whether our food choices are sustainable and ethical.
And there we have it! Mindful eating isn’t difficult, but it takes a shift in your attitude towards food. It might feel a bit strange at first, but we recommend you give it a try. You might be surprised by the results.
We hope you enjoyed our small take on mindfulness. These practices might be a bit out of the ordinary, but we honestly believe that habitual mindfulness can work wonders for the mind, body, and soul. If you have any mindful exercises or activities that work well for you, please let us know in the comments below!

]]>If you are struggling with your mental health, you are not alone. We’re here to tell you that things will get better, and all the negativity you are feeling at the moment is temporary. You will smile and laugh with friends and loved ones again.
Although we cannot control what is happening in the world at large, there are still so many steps we can take to improve our own mental health and outlook. While healthy habits won’t end the pandemic, they can change how you feel about yourself and the world, and ultimately help you to cope better.
With this in mind, let’s take a look at some ways you can improve your mental health during lockdown and beyond. Although the things covered here will be limited to what can be done during the lockdown, you will, of course, be able to continue using them in a post-lockdown world.
At the end, we’ll also discuss how incorporating CBD into your daily routine alongside these techniques can increase their effectiveness.
One of the most common pieces of advice for those looking to improve their mental health or increase their sense of wellbeing is to reduce how much they use their phone. While there is plenty of evidence to suggest our increasing dependence on smartphones can be attributed towards a decline in mental health, especially in young people, smartphones have been a saving grace throughout the pandemic.
Smartphones have enabled us to keep in touch with the ones we love in ways that wouldn’t have been possible a decade ago. While phone calls and text messaging are a great way of keeping in touch, video calling and social apps only available via smartphones have revolutionised how we connect with each other online. Our smartphones have allowed us to speak, see, and play with our loved ones even if they are thousands of miles away.
Therefore, advising you to turn it off or go without it for a month is probably, well, not the best advice right now! What you can do, however, is be mindful of how you are using your phone.
Let’s face it, the vast majority of people who own a smartphone will have a social media app such as Facebook or Twitter installed, and now, more than ever, it’s far too easy to spend countless hours scrolling through these apps. As we scroll, we’re constantly reminded of all the bad that’s going on at the moment, and that’s really just the beginning of the negative effects social media can inflict on our mental health.
We do also believe that having designated times when your phone is out of reach and earshot is a good, healthy practice. Even when you’re not using your phone, a text message, social media alert or another notification can tear you away from whatever you are doing. After you’ve dealt with the notification, it’s then far too easy to check your other apps and, before you know it, half an hour has been sucked away by your phone.
Ultimately, what we’re saying is try and be a bit more mindful in the way you use your phone. After a session of using it, ask yourself what did I actually get out of that? If you answer that question honestly, you might find it easier to change your social media/smartphone habits.
And while we’re on the topic of mindfulness, that leads us nicely to the next section!
The term ‘mindfulness’ has gained quite a bit of popularity in recent years, even though the concept has been around since humankind began! At its core, mindfulness is the act of paying close attention to your thoughts and feelings as they occur, without trying to interpret them, judge them, or act upon them.
There are a lot of different ways we can practice mindfulness, whether that be through meditation or exercise such as yoga, running, or other sports.
Mindfulness can be an incredibly powerful practice as it allows us to rationalise the thoughts we are having and improve our emotional and physical reactions to events and situations that might otherwise cause us distress. This, in turn, can improve our overall mental health, especially when there is a lot going on outside of our immediate control.
There are tonnes of resources available out there to support you in your mindfulness practice, whether they be guided meditations, podcasts, books, or videos. To get you started, we’ve included some resources below to point you in the right direction:
If you spend a bit of time each day really committing yourself to learning more about mindfulness and meditation, your whole outlook on life could change for the better!
We all know about the benefits that regular exercise can have on mental health. Naturally, we would always advise people to exercise at least twice a week, and this can be as much as a full blown work out or as little as a swift walk.
However, if you’re not up to exercising at the moment, going outside could still be invaluable for improving your mental health. Spending time outdoors, whether that be in your garden, a park, or a natural beauty spot, can work wonders for many people. It’s a way of attuning yourself to the natural world, which can have an incredibly calming effect and allows your mind to relax.
There is something so peaceful about sitting somewhere quiet and beautiful and listening to the birds chirping or a steam trickling.
Furthermore, there are lots of activities you can do outside, such as listening to music, audiobooks or podcasts, drawing, or simply taking in your surroundings. Use outdoor space to discover something new, or breathe life into one of your pre-existing hobbies.
Taking CBD on a daily basis can support healthy lifestyle changes due to the way our Endocannabinoid System (ECS) works. The ECS is the part of your body that is responsible for creating cannabinoids which help keep your body in balance. Cannabinoids work to prevent you becoming ill and achieve homeostasis.
And it’s this term, ‘homeostasis’, that can help reinforce the positive changes you make in your life and improve their effectiveness in increasing your mental health. Put simply, when your body is in homeostasis, it is able to properly adapt to the external stimuli of the outside world. In order for all living things to carry on living, they need to be able to adapt, both physically and mentally, to changes that occur.
When you are too cold, for example, you might put on an extra layer or switch on the heating. Your body lets you know you are too cold by causing a shiver. When you’re too cold, homeostasis is off balance, and thus warmth is needed to get the body back to the state of homeostasis.
So how does this tie in with our healthy habits?
As already discussed, CBD helps the body achieve homeostasis, which is when your body has everything it needs to adapt to a specific situation. Therefore, if you want to do more exercise, you’re going to need energy, which CBD can provide you with as it helps get your body to that homeostatic state necessary to exercise properly. If you want to relax and practice mindfulness, CBD can help your body reach the homeostatic state required for calm and relaxation.
In other words, evidence suggests that CBD can help your body respond to anything you want to do.
Of course, this is just the beginning of how CBD can change your life for the better. There’s a wealth of information around our website on how the power of CBD can help with chronic pain, anxiety and depression, insomnia, and much more.
We’d love you to try some of our CBD. At ProLife, we pride ourselves on offering some of the best CBD on the market, with absolutely no herbicides or additives. ]]>These other cannabinoids can provide you with many extra benefits than you would get from a CBD isolate product. Additionally, not only does each cannabinoid bring its own benefits, but also boosts the effectiveness of the other active ingredients, which ultimately creates a significantly more powerful product.
While CBD is undoubtedly the strongest component of CBD oil (hence the name!), the following cannabinoids are also present in quality full spectrum CBD oils:
This remarkable cannabinoid is known for its preventative properties. Interestingly, it’s also thought to improve brain cell growth (neurogenesis). CBC also has anti-inflammatory properties: just like CBD. Due to the way that cannabinoids boost the effectiveness of each other, this means that full spectrum CBD oil is even more powerful at combating inflammation.
Key Benefits of CBC: Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, bone stimulation, anti-proliferative, vasoconstriction, anti-microbial.
While more studies are needed to determine the true effectiveness of CBDA (cannabidiolic acid), some initial studies have shown that the compound could potentially compliment the other cannabinoids in CBD oil.
What sets CBDA apart from other cannabinoids is the way in which it interacts with your body. The other compounds found in CBD oil interact with CB1 or CB2 receptors, whereas CBDA blocks the enzymes associated with inflammation, resulting in the potential for CBDA reducing inflammation in the body.
Furthermore, CBDA could affect serotonin production in the body, a chemical compound which is associated with sleep, digestion, our emotional state, and more. Chemotherapy results in an excess of serotonin release, which leads to the side effects we associate with chemotherapy such as nausea. More research is needed in this field, but there are promising signs that CBDA could help reduce the side-effects of chemotherapy.
Key Benefits of CBDA: anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, digestive aid,
CBG (cannabigorol) is another powerful cannabinoid found in full-spectrum CBD oil. CBG is considered to be the parent of CBD, as CBG becomes CBD when the compound breaks down. As you might expect, the fact that CBD is the precursor to CBD means that it has many benefits in its own right.
Initial studies of CBG suggest that the cannabinoid could help treat an array of diseases and conditions, such as bowel disease, glaucoma, Huntington’s disease and even some bacterial infections. A full list of potential uses of CBG as well as the studies supporting the use of CBG for medical purposes can be found here.
Key Benefits of CBG: anti-inflammatory, bone stimulant, anti-proliferative, anti-bacterial
THCa (Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is another non-psychoactive compound found in full-spectrum CBD oil. While it shares its namesake with THC, THCa does not get you high. As THCa dries, it becomes the THC associated with marijunana. This happens over time, however, so this process does not have a chance to occur before the hemp is harvested for CBD oils.
Just like THC, THCa is thought to stimulate the appetite, which means it could help combat weight loss. It is also thought to be anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective, but, as always, more research is needed in this area.
Key Benefits of THCa: anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, anti-spasmodic
THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin), while similar in name to THCa, is actually very different and has a whole host of its own benefits. Again, unlike THC, THCv does not get you high; the slightly different makeup of this compound (it has two less carbon atoms on its side chain) means that it reacts with your body differently.
While more research needs be done to classify the true strength of THCv, scientists believe that it could act as an appetite suppressant, help regulate blood sugar and thus diabetes, reduce the symptoms of anxiety based conditions such as PTSD, and even stimulate bone growth through helping to produce new, healthy bone cells.
Key Benefits of THCv: bone-stimulant, appetite suppressant, anti-epeleptic
Here at ProLife, we offer the highest quality full-spectrum CBD oil which contains each of the amazing compounds you have just read about. We’re one of the only companies in the UK to offer fully regulated CBD oil that is free from any additives, herbicides or pesticides.

]]>If you’re wondering if CBD can cause tiredness, then we’re here to tell you that it’s a common misconception that you’ll feel drowsy when you take CBD. In fact, CBD can help you be more productive, increase your focus and concentration, and provide you with an energy boost. Let’s take a look at this in some more detail.
There are likely several reasons why some people think CBD can make you tired. Firstly, many people associate CBD with recreational cannabis and the ‘high’ associated with it. Indeed, this ‘high’ often makes people drowsy or sleepy.
In recreational cannabis, TBC is the psychoactive element responsible for the high and its associated effects. There is, however, no TBC present in high quality CBD oils, which means it’s impossible to feel high off CBD. It’s also the reason why CBD is completely legal!
Another reason people may believe that CBD causes tiredness is because CBD is known for its ability to help people with insomnia. Of course, if something helps you get to sleep, then the natural assumption is that it makes you tired.
This is not the case with CBD. The reason CBD is used to help treat insomnia is because CBD can help reduce anxiety and stress, allowing your brain to more effectively switch off when you settle down for the night. Even people who don’t generally suffer from anxiety or stress have reported a better nights’ sleep, which is likely due to the relaxation CND can bring.
We’ve already mentioned that CBD can help with insomnia without making you tired, but why? The best way to think of CBD is to consider it as a substance that will support your bodies’ natural rhythms. As it repairs and empowers your endocannabinoid system (ECS), CBD helps your body achieve homeostasis, which ensures your body adapts to whatever situation it needs to be in.
In other words, if you need to concentrate, CBD could help you concentrate. If you need a boost of energy for the day, CBD can help with that. And if you want to get to sleep, CBD might help you drift off, too!
In summary, CBD won’t directly cause tiredness, but due to the way it helps your body achieve homeostasis, it can help you fall asleep!

]]>Social anxiety is a fairly common condition that is thought to affect one in ten people who live in the UK. It can be characterised by feelings of fear, paranoia or worry that is triggered by social situations. This can be during the days, weeks or months before a social event, during the event itself, or after the event. A study in the UK found that women are twice as likely to be affected by anxiety disorders than men.
Some specific triggers for people living with social anxiety include:
People with social anxiety may need to give themselves extensive mental preparation before undertaking any of the above.
People who are suffering with social anxiety may have a number of physical, mental, and behavioural symptoms. Often, the symptoms will be at their peak during the days and hours leading up to an event, or during the event itself. These symptoms include:
Of course there are many symptoms that affect people stuffing from social anxiety; it will differ depending on the person. Many of the symptoms are comparable to those of generalised anxiety disorder (the clinical name for ‘everyday’ anxiety).
We’ve discussed at length how CBD is known to relieve people from many symptoms related to generalised anxiety disorder, many of which are shared with social anxiety. However, there have been several studies that have focussed specifically on social anxiety, many of which have had extremely promising results.
This study, for example, targeted patients diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, and determined that CBD can reduce the symptoms of social anxiety through changing brain activity in specific areas of the brain.
A study in 2011 revolved around patients being given CBD before speaking in public. It found that CBD can potentially reduce fear in individuals before they take part in public speaking. As anybody suffering from social anxiety knows, these feelings of fear are similar to the ones they feel before social events.
For a wider overview, this study conducted an analysis of several previous studies related to CBD and it’s potential to ease the symptoms of people struggling with a range of different anxiety disorders, including social anxiety.
Research into the power of CBD to help with all types of anxieties is constantly ongoing, but as you can see, there are some extremely positive signs that it can help. While we aren’t scientists, we can personally attest to how much CBD has helped us with our anxiety, as can many of our happy clients.
As we’ve covered in our ‘How To’ guide, there are many ways that people can take CBD, so it’s best to experiment to find what’s best for you. However, to feel the full benefits of CBD, it’s always recommended to take it alongside other techniques, many of which have been proven to help those struggling with social anxiety.
Ways to help cope with social anxiety include:
We completely understand the impact that social anxiety can bring to your life, and we’re confident that using CBD alongside some of the above practices could have an incredibly positive effect. It’s why we began sharing CBD with the world; we know how powerful the substance can be in helping both mental and physical conditions.
Our CBD is some of the finest on the market, made from 100% organic help grown in a controlled environment over in Colorado, USA. Each batch is lab tested for purity and quality, and we add none of the nasty additives that many retail brands use in their products. Take a look at our range of oils and balms today!

]]>There are many techniques people can and have used to successfully quit smoking. While some people like to go ‘cold turkey’, we wouldn’t recommend that. It can be great for certain people, but only three in 5 of those who quit cold turkey stay cigarette-free for longer than 6 months. To have a higher chance of quitting, it’s better to get some help along the way.
Let’s be honest, there’s no magic way to quit smoking. It’ll take perseverance, willpower, and good management of withdrawal symptoms.
When we’re addicted to something - whether that be tobacco, alcohol, sugar, or anything else - the body craves it. If those cravings cannot be met, we get withdrawal, as our body has come to rely on that thing it can no longer have.
Depending on the level of addiction, withdrawal symptoms can be rough. For example, when you quit smoking, you may suffer from:
Many smokers trying to quit for good will revert back to their habits because the withdrawal symptoms make the choice for them. But, as we’ve covered on the website before, CBD can help mitigate many of these symptoms.
It helps by repairing your endocannabinoid system(ECS), which, though the way it communicates with your brain, has an enormous effect on how your body feels and how you think. Many of the symptoms listed above can be lessened through a properly functioning ECS, and that’s what CBD can help with!
It’s common for people to turn to smoking because they believe it reduces stress and helps them manage their anxiety. Unfortunately, this couldn’t be further from the truth; smoking will actually make anxiety worse over time. It also leads to dependence, which in turn creates another breed of anxiety by itself.
Studies are constantly ongoing in regards to exactly how CBD can help with anxiety, but it is thought that CBD can interact with the levels of serotonin in the brain, the imbalance of which leads to anxiety. Indeed, this recent study indicates that ‘CBD has considerable potential as a treatment for multiple anxiety disorders’, which is extremely promising in itself. Science aside, we know that over half of CBD users take it for anxiety relief.
For the best chance of success, use CBD alongside other tried and tested methods that millions of people have used to quit smoking. If you’re serious about quitting, it’s always a good idea to get in touch with a healthcare professional who will recommend the best avenue for you. Popular methods that help people quit include:
Using CBD alongside the tried and tested ways of quitting smoking can help you manage symptoms and could give you a better chance of quitting for good!
We wish you the best of luck in your journey to quit smoking. You’ve got this! If you’re considering using CBD to help you quit, why not take a look at some of our high-quality CBD? Our products are made with Colorado grown hemp, which is grown in a controlled environment without herbicides or pesticides.
We’re proud of our products, not only in their quality but also by the positive impact they’re having on our customers around the world. If you’d like to learn more about CBD, check out the resources tab above or head straight to our Education Centre, which is full of information on CBD.

]]>All of the above can lead to a lack of energy, and once you’re in the cycle, it can be difficult to break out. A lot of the time, simple or not so simple life-style changes can massively help towards feelings of rejuvenation and renewal, but that isn’t always the case.
Sometimes, underlying health conditions can lead to chronic fatigue. Even if you have no underlying health conditions, you may become frustrated when those life-style changes fail to give you the energy you need.
As always, studies into CBD are constantly developing, but there have been many signs that CBD can help users feel more energised and alert. For example, this study shows that CBD has the power to ‘enhance wakefulness’ by targeting the areas of your brain that induce wakefulness.
That groggy feeling that you get when you wake up and struggle to get motivated can potentially be mitigated through the use of CBD. When your body is able to fully emerge from its restful state, it can make a difference to your whole day so you don’t always feel encumbered by fatigue and lethargy!
Furthermore, we’ve spoken at length about how CBD helps to build a strong and functioning endocannabinoid system(ECS), which is vital for many aspects of your wellbeing. It’s no wonder, then, that the ECS is also partly responsible for the way your body uses and expends energy. Therefore, it’s vital that you nourish your ECS to ensure that your body uses energy properly.
As every-day users of CBD ourselves, we know how transformative it is, especially for that feeling of wellbeing that each and every person craves. Feeling energised every day does wonders for your quality of life.
For the best results, use CBD alongside other healthy living practices. To feel energised and full of life, it’s important to look after your body. The combination of CBD and healthy living can make you feel more alive than you ever thought possible. As well as taking CBD, always try to:
At ProLife CBD, we understand how important energy is for our physical and mental wellbeing. We shouldn’t feel like we’re surviving from one day to the next, we should be thriving. ]]>When we take CBD (or any other ingested substance), our body automatically begins to digest it. Obviously, we don’t want to digest all the CBD, otherwise it would have little effect on us (and the effects would take significantly longer to kick in).
We mix our CBD with oil (such as MTC coconut or hempseed) because it increases the bioavailability of the product. The higher the bioavailability of a substance, the more effectively it gets absorbed into our bloodstream. When CBD can be absorbed by your body at a quick and efficient rate, it means less of the product is needed to give you the effects you require.
Furthermore, by mixing CBD with oil, we can far more easily give ourselves the exact dosage/effects we are looking for.
The reason MCT coconut oil works perfectly with CBD is because of its extremely high fat content. When we take CBD, it is stored in fat rather than water, so the fattier the oil, the easier the CBD will be absorbed.
It's this particularly high fat content that makes MCT Coconut Oil the prime carrier for CBD. MCTs (or MCFA, or medium chain fatty acids) are instantly absorbed by the body, without the need of being broken down. The only natural source of these fatty acids are in coconut oil, hence our admiration!
Aside from being the prime carrier of CBD, MCT coconut oil has a host of other benefits all by itself. Indeed, the power of coconut oil has been known for many years. The benefits of MCT coconut oil include:
Here at PROLIFE, we can honestly say that CBD has changed our lives. After many personal battles with illness, we found that CBD was incredible and relieving many of our symptoms.
If you’re looking to purchase CBD infused with MCT coconut oil, then we have several options available for you. Whether you’re just beginning your CBD journey or are looking to move over to a higher quality product, we’re sure that we’ve got something for you.
All of our CBD is made with colorado grown hemp free of any nasty additives found in retail CBD products. Our CBD is lab-tested to ensure purity and quality, and it is entirely organic. Depression is one of the leading causes of suicide worldwide. In the UK alone, 24% of women and 13% of men are diagnosed with depression.
Luckily there are many options, both natural and synthetic at our disposal to help us get through these tough times.
Both CBD oil and antidepressants have shown positive effects on easing the symptoms of depression.
I'm going to show you the pros and cons of each to show you why we prefer CBD oil over antidepressants. Check out this guide to learn more!
Sure, CBD oil and antidepressants may work similarly, but the similarities stop there.
CBD oil is a natural compound found in nature. It can be derived from hemp or marijuana. CBD oil does not contain the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana THC.
CBD has been linked to many health benefits including:
These are just some of the amazing benefits CBD oil has to offer.
Antidepressants are synthetic medications that were first developed in the 1950s to help relieve some of the symptoms associated with depression. The idea behind them is to help correct the imbalances of brain chemicals. The problem with the antidepressants is that they come with some pretty serious side effects like:
The World Health Organization has stated that CBD is generally well-tolerated and that there is no evidence of health-related problems that can be attributed to the use of CBD.
Both CBD oil and antidepressants have been known to be effective when it comes to relieving the symptoms associated with depression. The difference comes in the way they work.
A study that was done on mice in 2019 concluded that CBD oil has antidepressant-like effects and works much faster than antidepressants. The promising new data determines that CBD has therapeutic uses, and in some ways may be superior to taking antidepressants.
Another study was conducted to show the link between CBD and generalised social anxiety disorder or SAD. Social anxiety disorder is a disorder in which individuals have an intense fear of social situations. The study shows that the subjects who were given CBD before a simulated public speaking test had significantly less anxiety than the placebo group.
Anxiety and depression have both been linked to low serotonin levels. This is why there is a strong correlation between CBD oil helping both anxiety and depression.
There have also been various studies done to show the effectiveness of antidepressants. The studies concluded that people with moderate to severe depression have about a 20% chance of relieving symptoms from taking antidepressants.
With the information given to us on the differences between CBD oil and antidepressants, it is clear why we prefer CBD oil. CBD oil is becoming more popular than ever as an alternative treatment for relieving symptoms associated with various health conditions like depression.
CBD is known for its effects on helping us keep calm and relaxed. If you would like to try premium-quality CBD oil for yourself and experience some of the amazing benefits associated with it check out our products.
]]>The CBD market is thriving in the United Kingdom. In fact, the industry is valued at nearly €300 million. In the next five years, the market is expected to grow to approximately € 1 billion.
One area that CBD companies are looking to expand to is insomnia treatment. The truth is that one in three adults do not get enough sleep. Research shows that CBD makes users sleepy and may be a solution for people with sleep issues.
In this article, PROLIFE will take a look at the causes of insomnia and CBD oils' relationship with the condition.
First, let’s dive into the root causes of insomnia. Many people suffer from insomnia because of stress or anxiety. Another common reason for sleep issues is depression.
CBD attacks the root cause of insomnia and treats all three of these issues. It is scientifically proven to relax your mind and allow you to rest.
People who suffer from insomnia also deal with fatigue and exhaustion throughout the day. With small doses, CBD can sustain your energy levels and keep you alert. This will help you establish a consistent sleep pattern.
There are other root causes that are alleviated by CBD use. For example, some medications are known to disrupt your sleep-wake cycle. Many people are able to replace routine medicine consumption with all-natural CBD.
It also treats physical conditions that disrupt sleep patterns. Chronic leg syndrome, for instance, is an ailment that wakes many people from their sleep. Finally, CBD also helps with arthritis, migraines, and skeletal pain.
In addition to addressing the root causes, CBD is also proven to improve sleep. One way CBD achieves this is by improving sleep quality.
The medical community concurs that interrupted sleep is not the same as the uninterrupted variety. In fact, 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep is better than 8 hours tossing and turning.
CBD helps improve sleep quality by interacting with serotonin and gaba receptors. These receptors are directly involved with regulating the sleep-wake cycle. Another positive factor is the reduction in dream recall.
CBD is an all-natural substance that produces no side effects. Sleeping pills, on the other hand, come with a litany of side effects and unintended consequences.
Most notably, sleeping pills are powerful and make many users incredibly groggy. This significant side effect is present even after a long sleep.
The effects of sleeping pills are so profound that they come with operation warnings. Some medicines recommend that you do not drive an automobile or operate heavy machinery.
CBD yields many positive health benefits. Amongst these benefits is a natural treatment of anxiety and stress.
Treating these root causes can help you fall asleep easier. In addition, CBD is known to foster uninterrupted sleep. It reduces the likelihood of you waking up from chronic pain.

]]>Migraines affect over 38 million people in the United States. While these headaches create a minor nuance for some people, others suffer debilitating pain.
Regardless of which end of the spectrum your headaches fall on, you need a good remedy. Let's look at how you might benefit from CBD oil for migraines!
Cannabidiol (CBD) comes from hemp flowers. This cannabinoid attaches to a number of receptors in the human body, involved in the endocannabinoid system.
Though marijuana plants do carry CBD, manufacturers harvest it from hemp plants that carry low levels of THC. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a psychoactive high.
It attaches to receptors mostly located in the immune system. For this reason, CBD oil plays a significant role in reducing pain and inflammation, while promoting other areas of wellness for many users.
To answer this question, let's look at the causes of migraine headaches.
Triggers, like stress, anxiety, depression, and lack of sleep, create electrical impulses deep within the bran. This induces a shift in nerve cell activity and blood flow that leads to inflammation.
The inflamed tissues compress the trigeminal nerve, causing severe pain, dizziness, numbness, tingling, and visual disturbances, among other symptoms. Treating a migraine properly requires you to stop it at the root.
In short, yes! CBD oil for headaches may help you.
CBC may help prevent each of the triggers mentioned above. Eliminating triggers will prevent migraines from happening.
Research suggests that CBD oil works well in reducing anxiety. Like an SSI inhibitor, it helps to regulate serotonin levels in a person's brain, similarly to the endocannabinoid, anandamide, produced by the human body.
CBD may also help stabilize dopamine levels. Dopamine significantly affects mood and drive in an individual.
f your anxiety or depression triggers your migraines, then taking the oil may help reduce their occurrence or eliminate them altogether.
CBD may also help you sleep better, which will help you keep migraines at bay. CBD works for sleep in a couple of different ways.
First, it boosts the production of melatonin, a chemical responsible for regulating the sleep-wake cycle. Second, it helps suppress activity in the central nervous system, which calms your physical body.
Even if you do not know exactly what triggers your migraines, CBD may help you keep them away. As mentioned above, Inflammation irritates the trigeminal facial nerve, which causes all of your migraine discomforts.
CBD oil attaches to CB2 immune receptors all over the body, working closely to regulate cytokine production. This makes it an excellent anti-inflammatory. Once you eliminate the inflammation, you stop the migraine headache before it begins.
Does CBD oil help migraines?
The information above shows that you should choose CBD oil for migraines and improved overall wellness! As it eliminates the triggers of your headache, it may also improve your mental and physical health.

]]>Those who have anxiety disorder usually fear something terrible is about to happen — all the time. In some cases, this leads to panic attacks, insomnia and even withdrawal from society.
General anxiety disorder (GAD) and other forms of anxiety can be managed through medication. Many individuals with such conditions, however, find medications or their side effects unhelpful. These are the people that may benefit from the relaxing and soothing effects of cannabidiol or CBD.
CBD is one of the hundreds of cannabinoids found in cannabis or hemp plants. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD doesn’t cause euphoric feelings often associated with cannabis.
CBD is thought to ease anxiety by helping the body process serotonin better. Low levels of serotonin are commonly associated with people who have anxiety and depression. Studies also indicate that CBD interacts with specific receptors in the endocannabinoid system that play a role in regulating emotions.
CBD may also benefit people with other forms of anxiety, including social anxiety disorder (SAD). In a study, participants with SAD were given an oral dose of 400mg of CBD or a placebo. Reduced anxiety levels were observed among the group of participants who received CBD. Other clinical trials have shown that CBD may help with post-traumatic disorder or PTSD and anxiety-induced insomnia as well.
Though research is still preliminary, anecdotal evidence that CBD helps anxiety is growing. Our founders here at PROLIFE CBD are first-hand witnesses to the wonders of CBD for people who have anxiety.
The recommended use for CBD oil as a dietary supplement is to take it two to three times a day. All you need to do place six to 12 drops of oil under the tongue, hold them for at a minute before swallowing. You can also mix the oil with a healthy drink of your choice.
For taking CBD oil for your anxiety, however, it’s best to talk to your doctor to know the correct dosage. Your physician can also tell you whether the CBD may interact with any of the medications or treatments you’re taking. For instance, cannabidiol doesn’t interact well with certain blood thinners like warfarin.
Many businesses take advantage of the growing demand for CBD. Here are some tips to help you find a company that provides quality CBD:
Quality providers would be willing to share the results of their product’s lab testing. Look for those reports on their website or ask for it through a phone call or email. With the results, you will likely find how much CBD is in a product and see whether it contains high levels of THC and other harmful chemicals.
If the company hesitates to show you lab testing results, take that as a red flag and shop somewhere else.
It is good to find a company that grows hemp plants organically — no pesticides or chemicals used. It also matters if the CBD oil is extracted from the hemp plant carefully using the right technology. Above all, researching these topics will tell you how transparent the CBD supplier is willing to be.
If you or your loved one has been suffering from side effects of anxiety medications or want a more natural way to manage it, give CBD oil a try. CBD products have no guaranteed cure, but they can be an organic alternative to medications and treatments — without the side effects.
If you would like to know more about how the power of CBD can ease the symptoms of anxiety, don't hesitate to get in touch today. Alternatively, take a look at other ways CBD oil could benefit you, or continue to explore our Education Centre.
]]>So, it’s all good that knowing you want to use CBD, but following that these are the questions you will have:
-Which brand do I purchase?
-What strength should I be using?
-How much CBD do I actually need to take?
-Finally, the confusing % vs Ml vs Mg vs Oz labels it can be a nightmare trying to figure all this out!
Cherry and Toby Cavill the founders of PROLIFE CBD went through all of the above questions while trying to use CBD to assist their ailments. After struggling to find the right quality’s or clarity of the CBD they were buying and getting fed up with the confusion PROLIFE CBD was born.
PROLIFE CBD’s mission was to create clarity and eliminate all of this confusion to their clients while providing the highest quality CBD Oil available. Below we will go over how to choose the right strength of CBD oil depending on the ailment that you’re trying to assist with and ensure it’s the quality that you want to be consuming. Thousands of people use CBD as a treatment for a variety of conditions but it’s crucial to know the right concentration in order to get the best results:
** It is important to point out that CBD is not yet an approved substance by the FDA. None of the information we provide here should be interpreted as a clinical recommendation or medical advice – we’re not health professionals, and we certainly don’t claim to be**
New to CBD?
New CBD users sometimes find themselves struggling to figure out how strong a CBD product really is from the information on the label. Sometimes, it's not just as straight forward as reading the number of milligrams and below we will provide some insight into what the numbers on the label actually mean.
400mg, 2000mg, 3% and 8% are all examples of the numbers and information we are used to seeing on the labels of CBD products, but which one is for you and what do they mean? Well, when you see Mg on a CBD label it typically refers to the number of cannabinoids in the product in question, but please note that this isn’t the same as the total amount of CBD contained but we will discuss this later.
Why The Confusion?
What often confuses people with this number is that they will normally assume that it’s the strength of the product, but it isn’t really, especially if you measure your doses by reference to ‘drops’ or ‘Ml’s’ as opposed to aiming for a specific Mg. From all of our experience, clients like to know in ‘Drops’ so this is very Important. The reason behind this is because there is another variable that must be considered and that’s the product container or carrier oil as its also known.
To give you an example, if you have a 10ml bottle with 1000mg stated on the label, and a 20ml bottle that is also stated as 1000mg, then those 2 bottles have different strengths. If you compare them drop for drop, the 20ml bottle is only half as strong as the 10ml bottle. Why? Well, they both contain the same amount of cannabinoids and this is only getting half the amount of CBD when using the 20ml bottle as it contains the same amount of CBD but diluted over double the amount of carrier oil than in the 10ml bottle. Are you confused yet?
Well, another metric that is used to try and help the confusion, is a percentage. The percentage represents the concentration (The measure of the drop for drop strength of a product.) Using the same example as above 1000mg of CBD in a 10ml bottle is a concentration of 10%. Whereas 1000mg in a 20ml bottle is a 5% concentration. As you can see with PROLIFE CBD bottles, they state both ‘percentage’ and ‘Mg’ to make things 100% clear so you always know what you are getting!
This means, to you at home that the percentage concentration is actually far more important than the total overall Mg when assessing the strength of a CBD product. 3000mgs can sound like a strong CBD strength and in a 10ml bottle as it would be at 30%, but in a 100ml bottle that is only 3%!
Earlier I was talking about how the ‘Mg’ stated on a product is the total amount of CBD in a product. But some suppliers actually mean that the total mg is based around a spectrum of cannabinoids and not just CBD which is known to be the most effective cannabinoid. Meaning your not getting the full bang for your buck! Now these other cannabinoids are also very effective but not as a substitute for CBD ( as this is the most expensive and effective cannabinoid), for example in the 8% PROLIFE CBD Oil you will get 8% of CBD oil plus and full spectrum of cannabinoids on top such as ( CBDA, CBGA, CBG, CBN as well as a full spectrum of other cannabinoids.
So the 1000mg/10% CBD Oil could actually contain 600mg CBD and 400mg CBDa, rather than 1000mg CBD. This is key to know, as a cannabinoid such as CBDa has far less proven benefits to CBD. This means that someone might not be getting all of the anticipated benefits they’re used to from a different product that did actually contain 1000mgs of CBD. PROLIFE CBD always lists the total amount of CBD itself to avoid any confusion and customers always know what they are getting!
Quality is Key! Not Price!
Finally, I wanted to tell you about some other key factors to always consider when you are purchasing CBD Oil.
When walking around the stores I was recently looking at some CBD products and this was my thought process on the way round, this should give you a good idea of what you need to consider. So, on the shelf is a 6% Oil in a 10ml bottle for £29.99 which to me seems quite reasonable.
I pick up the product the first thing I look at is the label. Immediately I check the website of the company and see that there is no certification on their website and its not 0.0% THC. The current home office guideline is no more than 1mg of THC in a finished product, therefore this THC can build up in the body and as a result athletes wouldn't buy this either anyone who gets regular drug testing.
They use a European supplier; therefore, the CBD hasn't been bred for as long as in Colorado (hemp has historically been used in the past years for textiles and materials in Europe whereas Colorado have specifically bred for medicinal use)
They have misinformation on their website whereby, it mentions CO2 extraction whereas in the picture it shows ethanol extraction and is far cheaper to do. This guarantees that it will have trace THC as a solvent from extraction and is known to not be as clean or accurate form of extraction. If some suppliers don't have the right equipment they can't fully burn off (winterise) the ethanol, therefore, can cause risk of traces of THC in the oil.
Also, I notice it mentions flavouring in the ingredients, however, they have not provided evidence of what type of flavouring they have used. The reason It’s good to know this is because sometimes companies can use either PG / VG based flavouring which is known to be risky if consumed. Finally, it doesn't state either whether the hemp is organically grown or that whether it uses pesticides / heavy metals and this also concerns me.
So now we can see why this CBD oil was so affordable, we don’t know the extraction methods, we don’t know the THC levels, this is not 100% natural due to the synthetic flavours being added and there is no lab report to show or guarantee exactly what is in this specific oil. This to me shows that they are more about business than helping people and this is not only a shame as people will see the cheaper price point and assume it’s the same quality but its also frustratingly misleading.
In contrast for PROLIFE CBD we wanted to guarantee the finest quality CBD possible, so customers know exactly what they are getting with 100% clarity! We guarantee this by cutting no corners, using only the finest machinery and processes and want to tell you about it! This is why we are currently the only CBD company in the UK to discuss this on TV to ensure the message is out there. So What do we do to ensure you only get the best CBD :
So next time you see some CBD on the shelf just take the above into consideration and remember that you always need to know exactly what is going into your body and bloodstream. Unfortunately, not everyone takes the same care when making CBD but if you want to guarantee the best, PROLIFE CBD has already done all the hard work, so you don’t have to.

No No No! CBD does not get you high! CBD is 100% non psychoactive which is why CBD does not get you high!
It is an important question to ask but one that we want a lot more people to be informed about.
Until recently, the only way of getting the benefits that we are now seeing from CBD was to consume the whole plant, and therefore consume THC in high doses. THC is the compound that creates 'the high'.
Many people think of cannabis and think of 'getting high' but the important thing to know is that CBD is just one cannabinoid (or compound) of over 100 different cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. The two predominant cannabinoids are CBD and THC. THC IS the psychoactive compound but CBD oil MUST contain less than 0.02% of THC to be legal in the UK and less than 0.03% in the US.
With recent advances in science, it is now understood how different parts of the cannabis plant interact with our body.
Cannabinoids, like CBD, can be explained in two different forms:
The prefix phyto- means "of a plant". Phytocannabinoids are chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant.
Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids that are produced by us within the human body. Their chemical structure is similar (not identical) to the phytocannabinoids.
BUT - we of course don't produce our own psychoactive high!
The concentration of endocannabinoids in your body act to keep us in balance or homeostasis but the level is low enough that there’s no way you could experience a high or feel pain relief from trauma. To feel those effects, you need to add phytocannabinoids.
Now that this is clear, let's look at what happens within the body in response to cannabinoids.
Our brains are made up of millions of neurons that allow us to function, feel, taste, live etc. One of these neuron types is known as the cannabinoid receptor or CB1.
THC attaches itself to these receptors and sends them into overdrive, creating a high. CBD doesn't stick to the receptors in the same way and therefore doesn't create the high.
When CBD is introduced into the brain, it causes CB1 receptors to function, thereby reducing any anxiety. The serotonin receptors, when CBD is present, work to reduce depression and contribute to a large number of neurological and biological systems. The vanilloid receptors are involved in the regulation of pain. When CBD is present, pain and inflammation are not as acute.
So what feeling do you get from taking CBD?
CBD can be used topically to help inflammation, swelling or pain and most people report an immediate relief without side effects. More commonly, CBD is taken orally, usually via drops under the tongue and may make you feel calm, relaxed, pain free or just generally better.
We have not heard of any negative side effects and there has never been a reporting of an overdose on CBD. Cannabis (containing all compounds, including THC) is an illegal drug in most parts of the world due to the 'high' that it can give consumers. However - CBD is only an extract from the same plant.
The short answer is no. Scientists haven’t explicitly said that, but research and studies have shown that the biggest side effect of CBD products like CBD oil is dry mouth.
However, you should always still consult your doctor. CBD can interfere with the liver’s ability to metabolize other pharmaceutical products so if you take any medication, be sure to consult your doctor first.
