CBD in Skincare: What to Look for in a CBD Face or Hand Cream

Updated October 2026

CBD skincare has moved from niche to mainstream, with CBD creams now stocked by major beauty retailers. If you are choosing your first CBD face or hand cream, here is what to look for.

Why is CBD used in skincare?

CBD is a plant-derived ingredient that brands combine with moisturising oils and butters. As with any cosmetic, the overall formula matters as much as any single ingredient. CBD cosmetics are for skin care and are not intended to treat any medical condition.

Choosing a CBD face cream

  • Texture: lighter creams suit oily or combination skin; richer creams suit dry skin.
  • Supporting ingredients: look for ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, plant oils and antioxidants.
  • Fragrance: if your skin is sensitive, consider fragrance-free options and always patch test.
  • Clear labelling: the CBD content in mg and full ingredients list.

Choosing a CBD hand cream

Hands take a lot of wear, from frequent washing to cold weather. A good hand cream should absorb quickly without feeling greasy. Keep one by the sink and one in your bag.

Building CBD into your routine

  1. Morning: cleanse, apply CBD face cream, then SPF.
  2. Through the day: hand cream after washing.
  3. Evening: cleanse, then a final layer of cream before bed.
